The amazing pedal-powered punch machine

If you ever get the chance to go to Secret Garden Party, you definitely should.

Tipped as the ultimate alternative festival experience where anything goes, its boutique, arty and wacky atmosphere means you are guaranteed to stumble across a whole host of surreal happenings…

Fitting into the festival theme of Stranger Than Fiction, Courvoisier was invited this year by Head Gardener (founder) and Courvoisier The Future 500 member, Freddie Fellows, to create a fantastical and extraordinary pedal-powered punch machine that formed part of the inaugural Courvoisier Revolutionary Spirit 2010.

So Lucy and I headed down to sunny Huntingdon, to show London Evening Standard’s Victoria Stewart what it was all about. After all, seeing is believing! Standing at eight metres high, with spinning punch turbines and a built-in bar, its impressive stance wooed the crowds across the festival’s lake and we all hopped on to pedal for some tasty Napoleon’s Dynamite Courvoisier punch. In the meantime, performers from Circus Kinetica, dressed as French revolutionaries, swung from the machine telling the story of how Napoleon had crafted this whimsical time travelling punch machine many years ago.

Being a time machine, Courvoisier’s pedal-powered punch machine may pop up in other weird and wonderful places in the near future so watch this space…

Culinary wizards Bompas & Parr open the Complete History of Food dining experience

Last night saw the star-studded opening of Courvoisier presents The Complete History of Food with those crazy jellymongers, Bompas & Parr, held at Belgrave Square in London. The Focus PR Courvoisier team has been busying about behind the scenes of this exciting epicurean adventure for the last few months so it was fabulous to see it brought to fruition as part of Courvoisier Revolutionary Spirit 2010.

Travelling through 730 years of gastronomic history, journalists and VIPs were invited to explore the five-story Georgian town house and experience the world’s first bio-responsive food in the form of jellies, a flooded Medieval banquet, giant sugar sculptures and dinner in the belly of a iguanodon dinosaur, all matched to bespoke Courvoisier cocktails!  Click here to see a film of the amazing event.

We saw Tom Parker Bowles tentatively crossing the eel-infested medieval waters, designer Anya Hindmarch enjoying a molecular cocktail on the roof terrace courtesy of Paul Tvaroh, TV presenters Rick Edwards and George Lamb enjoying a glass of punch in the Courvoisier bar, as well as model Olivia Inge and designer Amy Molyneaux from PPQ. The event is open from now until Sunday 18 July and tickets are priced at £25 so get them quickly from www.revolutionary-spirit.com.
